A trip to reality
01/22/2016
As part of the “Inquiring Minds 2016” competition run by the foundation “Haus der kleinen Forscher” (Little Scientists’ House), the preschool children at the Kappel kindergarten paid a visit to CARL HAAS on 22 January 2016. As their theme for the competition, the children picked the topic of “Springs in nature and technology” and enjoyed the opportunity to take a look around a real “spring factory”.
With the support of trainees from Kern-Liebers and their trainee manager Andreas Bitzer, CARL HAAS staff prepared an unforgettable morning for the children – who in turn astonished our trainees and employees with their questions.
The young scientists were first given the opportunity to wind their own springs, and with the help of the trainees, to turn them into little spring men, flowers, elephants, and lots else besides. There was a little raffle, a refreshing snack and of course a tour of the production area.
The tour left each and every one of the budding young scientists almost speechless. They were amazed at the sheer number of machines, the “magic springs” (bimetallic springs) and the “robots in prison”. And the little ones delighted our employees with their beaming faces and thirst for knowledge.
There then followed the first tentative interviews with Managing Director Dr. Thorsten Gerberich, where apprenticeships for 2026 were agreed with a handshake.
A successful morning for everyone concerned.
